The former Western Michigan quarterback was in Fleck’s home in Edina after the former Broncos and current Gophers coach earned his biggest win at Minnesota, 31-26 over then-No. 4 Penn State in November.
“I was trying to get him to be like, ‘Hey, coach, you have to enjoy this moment,’ ” Terrell recalled this week. “ ‘You need to soak this up. It doesn’t happen every day.’ ”
Terrell, who helped Western Michigan go from 1-11 in 2013 to 13-1 in 2016, said Fleck “definitely had a level of gratitude” and was able to put his feet up and have an adult beverage.
