The Gophers football team fulfilled bigger expectations in 2019 with an 11-2 record, contention for the Big Ten West championship and an impressive victory over Auburn in the Outback Bowl.

Now, with spring practices starting Tuesday, Minnesota must reload because as head coach P.J. Fleck often says, “the price has gone up.”

The U’s defense must replace seven starters, including a handful of all-Big Ten standouts, and blend in two new assistant coaches. Their returning production is just 33 percent, which ranks 125th in the nation.

The U’s offense brings in new coordinator Mike Sanford Jr., but loses only a few skill position players. Their 82 percent returning production is 13th-most in country.

Go Gophers!!
