Here are some quotes/notes from the post-game press conference. I typed this live, so they are not verbatim. Just wanted to get them out to guys as soon as possible.

Jerry Kill:
• I feel bad for the kids. They gave everything they could.
• Offensively we struggled at times but did some good things at times.
• On the O-line: We didn’t have Campion. Lauer had knee surgery, tried to play and couldn’t. Jonah did a really good job on the left side. We just have to get healthy on offense. That’s no excuse. We had chance to win the game.
• On the defense: No question they played very hard. We did some different things on defense. Played a LB at DE. We felt we have a good defense. Felt if we could keep under 30 points we’d have a chance to win.
• On Rodney Smith: He’s pretty good. We’ve got another true freshman that’s pretty good. We’re going to have to figure a few things our on the offensive side of the ball. We’ve got the skill to be a good offensive football team.
• On the defensive backs: Eric Murray is going to be a first-round draft pick. I thought they played well. Have to watch tape to really tell.
• On Cody Poock: Thought he did a good job. Played very well for his first time.
• On Julian Huff: We felt he could be a contributor in spring ball. Physical player. Did a good job.
• On what Coach Patterson said following the game: “We’re never going to play each other again. I said, “That’s right.”
• Our crowd was tremendous.
• On Mitch Leidner: Have to look at film. When he had time to throw it, I thought he threw it well. Missed a couple critical throws in critical situations.
• On the no huddle offensive: Gave us an opportunity to have them not settle in on defense. We were able to move the ball well when we went no huddle. Problem was we only have five offensive linemen. Certainly helped us tonight.
• We played well enough to win on defense. I’m not going to complain too much.

Mitch Leidner:
• Guys stepped up on the O-line. Have to give credit to Jonah at left tackle; he played a great game.
• Can’t dwell on the costly turnovers. Have to keep getting better.
• We clean up a few things here and there. We won’t have as many jitters. We believe we will be great on offense.
• On the no-huddle offense: I thought it went really well. We were able to get some good looks from their defense going no huddle. Hope to use it more often. Its fun for QB’s to run.
• On Rodney Smith: Not too surprised he played well. He reminds me a lot of Cobb the way he runs the football. Great to see him stepping up.

Boddy-Calhoun:
• On Boykin: He made very smart decisions. You could he was pretty sharp today reading his keys.

Rodney Smith:
• “Coach said if you don’t get butterflies before the game you aren’t human. I guess I’m a machine.”
• On the speed of the game: Red-shirting helped me a lot. The older guys helped me out. It wasn’t much a challenge tonight.

Campion was out? That's a big loss!!! What happened to him? I wonder what would have happened if he played? The guy is a stud.

Rodney Smith seems to have a little Swagger in his a$$ so I guess that makes him a human machine.

I can't agree with coach on the crowd. Ffs we had a chance to win at the end and the place is half empty. Embarrassing. Yeah they were loud when they were there but that mass exodus is awful. And the student section was so so. Loud when engaged but the freshman bailed at the first sign of struggle (I was asked with ten mins left in the first half if they were going to lose when we were down ten so they could leave). Needs to be better

Disagree on the student section.

Practically zero attendance erosion after at the start of the 3rd quarter after halftime. The erosion was already underway on the home side...can't say on the visitor side because that's where we sit in the upper level.

Kids started to leave about 10 minutes or so left in the 4th but that was after the disastrous possession deep, deep...did I say deep?...into our end zone.

Frankly, a lot stayed to the end. Very pleased.

Yeah maybe I'm biased from having say there but I just don't get how you leave a 2 td game vs #2 when your team has the ball in mass. And that goes for the whole place. Those that stayed and were engaged all game as well were awesome and looooooud which we need. But I can't get over the needing an inside kick to score our biggest win in decades and the place is half empty.

I call BS. The student section was completely full to the top of the 2nd deck into the 4th qtr. They didn't leave any earlier than the "fans" sitting between the 40's. And the freshman were the ones that stayed the latest. You could tell who they were by the shirts they were wearing. We stayed til the end, sang with the team, and still had a ridiculous time getting out of campus because the crowds were so big.

See my second post. And in regards to who stayed, overall was pretty disappointed with everyone leaving early in the whole stadium. And in the student section, of course it's mostly freshman who stayed. You guys were awesome and got there early and it wss easily the most packed I've seen it. Was more talking upper deck in that regard but that was the stadium as a whole. Was probably more a comment made as an irritated fan based on who I was by in the upper deck. I recant
