University of Minnesota defensive coordinator and secondary coach Jay Sawvel kept his cornerbacks after Tuesday's practice to do some extra work.
"There is a huge level in improvement that we have to make week to week and certainly from last game to this game," Sawvel said. "We will get there. We'll see how fast."
Under Sawvel last year, the Gophers were 25th in the nation and seventh in the Big Ten in pass efficiency defense. Through two games in 2016, the Gophers have started slow, ranking 100th in the nation, 14th of 14 teams in the conference.
