per the Rochester Post Bulletin:

The thrill is gone, in a sense, for Isaac Fruechte.

He's no longer the wide-eyed rookie, no longer the guy who has to learn the whole playbook, no longer the guy who has to carry the veterans' shoulder pads.

So, yes, the thrill of being a rookie is gone. But Fruechte is very much enjoying every day of his NFL journey and every day of his third training camp with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Caledonia native is engaged to be married (his fiancee's family was at camp Thursday, wearing shirts with his name and number on the back). He's focused on increasing his role as a receiver for his home-state team. And he's happy to be "just one of the guys" in the locker room.

"I've been here long enough, almost two years now, I know a lot of these guys really well," the 6-foot-3, 210-pound Fruechte said. "I just try to do my part. I'm trying to compete just like they are.

"When you start putting pressure on yourself, you get too uptight and thinking too much. This is a game, you're supposed to have fun. That's what I'm trying to focus on, have fun and play hard."

If anyone can appreciate where Fruechte is, and where he's come from — Minnesota born-and-raised, and having to outwork other players who were more hyped just to earn playing time at the University of Minnesota — it's Rochester's Marcus Sherels.
