The Gophers have only been out scored in the second half of games by 2 points. I know that this has been against the back-ups the last two weeks. However, it is also the same time that Kill has been putting in a lot of young players. The young guys are holding their own, which is a great sign.

It's easy to be competitive against a teams 3rd stringers when you are still playing your starters.

Michigan and Purdue may have been playing backups, but the other 4 opponents on the roster were not. The defense has done much better in the second half than in the first half of games. Neither the offense nor the defense has been able to take over the game. When the defense played better in the second half, the offense couldn't take advantage.

It's a positive, to an extent. If we could have gotten the defense to play in the first half like they played in the second half, we likely would have won a game or two more.

This is one of Coach Kill's main ideas. Be stronger and better conditioned so you are the better team in the 4th quarter.

Since the opponents have 93 of 210 points in the second quarter where they continue to pummel the Gophers in submission, it wouldn't matter if we scored our 61 points in the second half or not. What the opposition does in the second quarter outweighs the fact that it takes the Gophers 2 quarters to achieve. There is no moral victory in such statistical nonsense. The most important stat is the opposition have scored 208 points to our 109. The total domination of our team in the first 3 quarters has

Scoring ratio by quarter: looks like PROGRESS, ha ha ha ha ha heh...
1st qtr: 3.17 points to 1
2nd qtr: 2.72 points to 1
3rd qtr: 2.00 points to 1
4th qtr: .56 points to 1

Yes I can see the positive improvement in our conditioning program. Obviously, according to this, we will be in better physical condition than they will be next year. LOL.
