Pop up ads for Northern Iowa info and Ohio State apparel?

Pretty much every time I visit Gopherhole recently I get advertisements for the University of Northern Iowa or Ohio State merchandise.

I would imagine the Ohio State website would not pedal Gopher football apparel

This website isn't selling Northern Iowa or Ohio State gear. What is being sold is ad space, if the advertiser thinks that this is a good place to advertise UNI gear, it seems like a waste of money, but it is their money to waste.

A lot of banner ads use technology that implements individual ip address's internet searches (like via Google) or uses information gathered from said ip addresses to determine what type of product to advertise. Not sure if GH uses ad companies that do this, but that may come into play.

Remember when that one guy posted about this saying he kept getting ads for anal leakage or something and someone pointed out that they're the product of things you've searched/viewed online? Good times.
