After Nelson showing his true colors, are we really sure Ponder is the worst QB in Minnesota. Nelson ran himself into sacks, and missed maybe 10 different big play opportunities due to terrible passes. Overthrows, throwing behind, throwing picks, no poise, etc...

I believe this game puts Nelson in the same category as Ponder. We have to go with Leidner the next game if we even want to keep it competitive. The final question is, are Ponder and Nelson in the same class amongst their competition?

Agreed...we are better with Leidner in the game. Nelso is great in theory, Leidner is a better fit for this team.

Made no sense to me why Nelson was starting. The team to run so much more smoothly with Mitch at the helm last week. Why break up that rhythm. I am not saying we would have won with Mitch starting, but we would not have done worse and, in fact, I think we do better. I think we would have scored more than 7 points.

Truthfully, Nelson isn't as composed as Leidner is in the pocket and running. I'm convinced Leidner is a better runner, not sure about passer (because Leidner hasn't been asked to pass much yet), but Nelson isn't very good, he just isn't very accurate.

Ponder has nerves of glass... seems like Nelson is similar.

Nelson had a bad game indeed. Back to the original question. We are talking 1.5 year in 19 year old college football QB vs. third year starter in NFL. So yeah Ponder is worse.

I can't figure out why they didn't sit Nelson another week and the evaluate the position after this game.

Strange post . . .

Ponder was a fantastic college QB (awful NFL QB), so yeah. . .he' better than Nelson and 99% of the other college QBs.

So true. The Vikings O-Lines has been terrible this year. Peterson isn't seeing the holes he did last year and Ponder is getting crushed in the pocket.

Comparing a 3rd year starter in the NFL to a true sophomore in college is comparing apples to oranges.

A better comparison is who's play calling is more vanilla, Musgrave or Limegrover?

i still think playing Nelson was a better move then to play Leidner, playing Leidner would have made us even more one dimensional and would give Iowa one more reason to plug one more guy in the box, Iowa would have had no problem containing and tackling Leidner if you ask me
