Please do not accept a bowl if offered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would have agreed, but you used so many exclamation points I hope we do...

Your username says everything we need to know about you.

I agree. I don't want to watch this year's team play anymore.

The thing is, if you don't want them to go to a bowl but they do, just don't watch the game and it will be just like they didn't play the game.

Nobody has ever gotten better by not practicing.

We should always accept a bowl bid to not is being foolish.

I think it's sad a team with 5 wins can even make a bowl. That being said, I am sure the Fuskers will be taking a 5 win bowl bid.

Can we accept the bid just to practice? Just skip the game, save the travel $$$

They had their chances to get bowl eligible and didn't do it.

1/2 yard away, 4 downs, a time out and 19 seconds away from a win and didn't get it done.

I wonder if the travel money is more or less than the cost of whatever fine you get for no showing.

If we had played a cupcake instead of TCU we would be bowling as 6-6. So I have no problem taking a bowl. We need the practice and it wouod be nice to have 6 wins on the record book.

I'd like to watch another Gopher game before next Fall. That simple.

And then we promptly turned around and hired the coach responsible for said debacle. This school does not have a clue of how to win in sports, no clue.

They know nothing!

I'd be okay either way. Are we better, perhaps, than the 5-7 record when adjusted for strength of schedule? Likely.
Are the practices worth it? Sure.

At the same time, I'd also be happy to just let this group heal and get better. This is one of those rare occasions
where maybe staying home might be okay. Might.

Not accepting a bowl bid

Not accepting a bowl bid would be similar to running out the clock with reasonable field position, 1:21 to go in the half, with 3 timeouts and down 14. Hopefully, somebody would talk us into accepting the bid if one came. We need to start playing for next year...get the practices...some of the injured must be healthy by then...build some momentum. If these coaches want to stay in Minnesota, they have to have a good season next year. Bowl game gives us a chance to start over....start fresh.

I doubt unless something changes we get an invite but why wouldn't we accept it for the players?

Don't get your hope up though doubt we get an invite.

No, please no. If they get behind, couldn't stand to see them play to keep the final margin of defeat close rather then try and close it. Even worse, don't want to see them go 5-8 and lose 6 out of their last 7.

If we get offered one we take it but we certainly haven't earned it, it would be the ultimate in participation trophies. The practices would be nice and if we do get to a game we dang sure better win it because it won't be a good opponent.

Amazing how watered down the bowl system has become as we are now getting to the point where we can't even find enough .500 teams to fill all the open spots.

Yes take it. Extra game. Extra practice. Valuable time with players. Seriously why question that?

I like football. I like it better when the Gophers are playing. I am hoping for a bowl.

practice time

Why don't they just allow the extra 15 practices for all teams- -much like everyone has spring practices-- this could be called winter practices. For those teams without a bowl game all senior would be ineligible to participate.

Do I think a bowl bid for a 5-7 team helps the program move forward? Not really. 15 practices are nice, but in the long run will it make a difference? Probably not. Selfishly though I could use an excuse to go on vacation.

That said, the notion that a team could turn down a bowl bid is absurd, especially with no sitting Athletic Director. It's all about the $$$$ and even a garbage bowl game makes big $$$ these days. If there were rumblings about the Gophers turning down a bowl bid, Jim Delany would call up Kaler and squash the idea in about two seconds.

With respect to men's sports it does appear that we have become dreadful

Time to rollout div 1 broomball and ice fishing teams

Believe it or not, it's actually about the players, the college kids that came to the u of m to go to school and play football. So I'm guessing if offered they'll accept. Sure it will be low hanging fruit for all the cynics out there, but it's the right thing to do.
