Anyone know if Kill is going to bring any of his recruits that would be freshman next year at NIU to come here? It looks like he may have 1 or 2 guys that are worthy of a scholarship here. I just read on another thread that we have like 10 schollys remaining for this recruiting class? And anyone know if there is any possibility some of his good younger players from NIU transfer here?

NIU paid him to recruit those kids, there are ethics involved in how this happens. Used to be the coach could only talk to the player if they called him, and that would not be alright with active NIU players. We can't recruit existing players at NIU, I don't know what the ethics are of talking to them if they call us. Football players are generally more loyal to the program than bb players.

If we need NIU kids to upgrade our talent through transfers, we're in deep trouble. His recruiting classes at NIU were ranked low enough where those kids are a dime a dozen. He should be able to fill out our class with equally talented stiffs as he already had coming to NIU. Transition years suck for recruiting, unless you are Lane Kiffin. Don't expect anybody good to commit here this year and get used to wondering if recruits are hidden gems. Back to Mason recruiting, just what we needed.

It's not the NIU commitments that are interesting, it's the recruits that the NIU coachs got along with but had no chance, because they were looking at BCS level offers. Remember Matt LaCosse had talked to and liked Coach Kill but was coming here.

Exactly. We may lose a few recruits but we may gain a few as well. Some guys may have liked Kill but got offers from bigger schools so they decided to go elsewhere.

Its not unusual for a departing coach to poach kids he was recruiting, eg, Valai to Wisconsin with Cross and Eguae to Auburn with Roof.
