Why can't we just take what teams give us? 5-10 yard slants, crossing routes, sticks routes. What is with the long out routes/post routes (or just longer routes in general) - forcing an average college QB to thread needle with Aaron Rodgers throws? Why do we let the sideline be a factor as an extra defender so much? You let the game come to you, take what they give you, and then as the defense overplays and collapses on shorter stuff, you take your shots over the top with low risk deep balls over the top. Not complicated.
Offensive line protects well, and Croft is mobile enough to turn some of the line breakdowns into positive yards. It seemed like we were getting shut down by "good coverage" way too often tonight. I don't think Iowa's entire secondary are Gary Payton gloves.
This will look bad in the stats column for Croft, but he's actually pretty solid all around for a Sophomore.
