loves coaching this team, together, focused

at halfway point, big scrimmage Thursday, work toward OSU a week or so after

AutmanBell week to week, doing great, not a long term issue, get him back here very shortly, he is in and out of practice, ton of rehab ton of treatment, tough, will be back very soon

Transfer from Texas A&M, Wright, has had a really fantastic camp

Daniel Jackson, true soph who was #2 Wr after Bateman left, has been in and out with some stuff trainers are watching, DJ going to be a great player here

mentioned some guys stepping up like MBS, true frosh Brady Boyd, and 6th year Clay Geary

expects TEs will help WR game...mentioned BSF, Ko Kieft, and highlighted Jameson Geers, true frosh who got here this summer and has had fabulous camp

said Mariano Sori Marin benefitting from having Braelen Oliver (better than ever) back from injury and from TX Abilene transfer Gibbens...last year inexperience left and right, behind, and in front of Mariano...better this year...guys who got thrown in fire last year also look better...Mariano and Jack make each other better

T-Time very talented, very long, very fast, very physical...adjusted some def schemes to help him...he has been breaking out since Jan; unbelievable off season, really like him at corner

true frosh from Mississippi Justin Walley impressed since early enrolled for winter camp, spring ball...fans are really, really gonna like him

Phil Howard in the mix, Miles Fleming as well

will give Mo as much as he can handle....love the rb depth...selfless room, only one ball...mentioned Trey Potts, Cam Wiley, and Bryce Williams as depth...said Ky Thomas having a great camp...on true frosh Bucky Irving: this kid is special, wait to you see this kid play- but he is a ffreshman and a lot to learn

mentioned Dragan Kesich coming on strong at the long, long kicks and having a huge leg...might use one kicker for shorter kicks and one for longer...good competition

Sanford: Gaard asked a lot of generic questions about communication postCovid and play calling style...really likes TM and the rest of QB room

Rossi: asked by JG what got better during 2020...reaction to live action speed in game...Covid break during season gave chance to revisit fundamentals....

asked by JG about impact of Oliver and Gibbens on MSM...Rossi noted MSM ended with two really good games...added Gibbens who has played a lot of football, added Oliver who started, played a lot in 2019...some other guys at lb who have experience now...also safeties gained experience, which will help...this won't be as vanilla a scheme as he ran as interim in 2018 (which worked) with experienced guys, full off season, preseason

Mafe needs to dominate TEs he lines up over often on first and second down...pass rush on third down has always been strong...looking good in camp

asked about WI, IA: working at physicality in practice to be better vs power run...

asked about T Smith: very pleased with improvements in winter, spring, and now even another step up here in camp, need him to finish strong here and then translate it to games

Grimm:

Wright looks like an NFL WR...

looks for BSF to step up in pass catching role...

Jackson maybe dealing with hand issue...

experience on oline is impressive...likely to rotate six guys...pass pro needs to be better....

Morgan not a great athlete that can often beat pressure...

Gopher front seven on d has been impressive, much improved over last year...

has been told Oliver has been impressive....still in a huge brace

T Time looks like NFL corner...

usually pick defending champ but Northwestern has lost so much

Murz was up and down for WI, got thumped by Iowa last year

been told Trickett has had good camp and other kickers as well...watched Trickett nail three 45 yarders today...watched Kesich hit a 56 yarder last week...big foot

Thanks, Swingman.

There's a lot to be excited about. We need to keep away the injury bug. I hope that TM does his magic with slight of hands and does quick releases in the RPO set.

Do the Gophers have a version of a Hurry-up Offense? That is one way to keep tOSU from defensive substitution.

One thing I learned. the WR from Texas A&M apparently pronounces his name

"Die-lun" Wright instead of "Dill-un."

Haven't seen a media guide in a few years. a lot of media guides used to include tips for broadcasters to pronounce names correctly. There is a local HS Girls VB and BB coach I work with who prints out a roster with phonetic spelling and pronouncing guides for his players. always makes a better broadcast when the names are pronounced correctly.

They have recordings of the players saying their own names as part of the roster on the GopherSports website. They also have a written guide in the weekly game notes. In this case, I think it is actually pronounced "Day-lun."
