Jay Pivec, has been named head coach of the new men's basketball program at Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount.

Pivec had been at Minneapolis Community and Technical College since 1990, where he compiled a 425-115 record and took four of his teams to the national junior college Division III tournament. The MCTC program was terminated by the administration after last season based on a recommendation from the school's student government.

In May, Pivec was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association men's basketball Hall of Fame.

The Rosemount school plans to compete at a Division II level and will play an independent schedule in 2010-11.
