South Dakota and South Dakota State didn't just beat the Gophers in basketball for the first time ever this season. They also came away with a combined $155,000.

The University of Minnesota paid South Dakota $90,000 and South Dakota State $65,000 to play at Williams Arena this season.

Maybe we should play teams like Duke at home more often. We wouldn't have to pay them, we would make more money from tickets and concessions, and we would be on national television.

I'm pretty sure we'd still have to pay them. Not sure how that all works exactly though.

We could just play at Duke every year though and get paid!

Losing at Duke would be better for our RPI than dropping home games to USD and SDSU. And we get paid!

Ya and much lower than football payments. For those FCS schools a game at a P5 school can fund an entire departments budget

Here's a decent article on it. Albeit a few years old. (Man, there is one line in there I didn't like reading. The Register's study shows Big Ten and Big 12 basketball teams had a 90-2 record in guarantee games this season.)
