Claeys, who is the acting head coach with Gophers coach Jerry Kill on leave to focus on management of his epilepsy, says the key will be a more aggressive defensive line against the Wildcats' quarterback tandem of Kain Colter and Trevor Siemian.

"I'd rather go down getting after them and making them move around," Claeys said. "We're going to turn those guys more loose and use more of a spy concept."

Go Gophers!!

I know its been discussed at length, but sending more than 3 guys on long yardage situations should advance that goal.

Would be interesting to see a statistic on completion percentage and yards per attempt on unhurried v hurried passes.

Hey Northwestern, we're going to try and run the ball early, try to really establish the run against you, we're going to turn our d line loose, maybe blitz a little more to bring pressure and use a linebacker to spy Colter when he is in there. I'm still peeved about the no pressure thing against Michigan. Just sit back and give him all day to pick us apart. Just because a guy burns you on a scramble play last year, doesn't mean you don't look at what he's done in his previous 5 games this year. I just can't believe we didn't at least try to adjust at anytime in the 2nd half! Lastly, let's be a little more generic in our responses to the media. How about saying we need to open it up a little more in the passing game and on offense? How about just keeping it to we need to get more pressure on the quarterback? I really hope we do let loose and play with some aggression, play like they're having fun, and play confident. They look like they need to believe more and play with more belief and confidence. A little swagger as I've seen mentioned on this board!

The lack of pressure on opposing QB's has been one of the major disappointments this year -- and probably a big reason for the struggles in the defensive backfield. One would think that with Shede drawing constant double teams inside that others would be having huge years getting to the QB. Obviously, this has not been the case at all. One has to wonder if it's a lack of talent up front or if it's something schematic...
