per Marcus:

Lemming invited the University of Minnesota coach to appear on his CBS Sports Network preseason recruiting special next week with Iowa's Kirk Ferentz, Wisconsin's Gary Anderson and former Notre Dame coach Ara Parsegian. But Kill had to decline because of commitment to a charity event at Southern Illinois.

"Everywhere I go, all the other coaches always say nothing but praise for him," Lemming said. "They always talk good about Kill."

Lemming said the inconsistency with the Gophers at the end of Glen Mason's coaching tenure and under Tim Brewster will take a bit longer for Kill to overcome.

"For Minnesota, they recruit real hard," Lemming said. "You see their name everywhere. They're getting most of the top guys in the state. But they're going to lose a couple. Barry Alvarez had the same problem at Wisconsin, and so did Kirk Ferentz at Iowa. It was like that the first few years until they establish themselves."

Go Gophers!!

I think the article had a ring of truth to it. Whether we ever win a B10 title under Kill or not, there is no doubt these coaches can take lightly regarded recruits and turn them into quasi NFL players. It's scary to me to think what Claeys might be able to do with a couple 5* kids in a class. Maybe we'll get to see it (which will take us continuing to win) someday. Iowa, who has been very successful over Ferentz's tenure still isn't consistently bringing in 4 and 5 star kids either. So that is the other side of the coin...
