Unlike insatiable NFL fans, former Gophers cornerback Briean Boddy-Calhoun has not looked at a single mock draft. He doesn’t know if ESPN draft wonks think his “stock” is rising or falling, or what round countless other prognosticators think he’ll be selected.

“I did that on purpose,” Boddy-Calhoun told the Pioneer Press. “I don’t ask my agent too many questions about who he’s talking to and stuff. I’m just being as patient as I can.”

Boddy-Calhoun and three other Gophers seniors are projected to be taken in NFL draft’s fourth through seventh and final rounds next Saturday in Chicago. The opening round is Thursday, with rounds two and three on Friday.

If Boddy-Calhoun, Eric Murray, De’Vondre Campbell and possibly KJ Maye are picked, the Gophers would have eight players taken in the past two years — most since 1990-91 when the draft was 12 rounds. The Gophers had seven players taken in the 2001 and 2002 drafts.

“It shows that we’ve built a culture at Minnesota to be successful on the field, off the field and in the future,” Boddy-Calhoun said.
