PiPress Sports Figures of Year: Jerry Kill & Tracy Claeys, written by Rebecca Kill

#ESPY

Still think he is more than deserving of one and this article illustrates why IMO.

"The love he has for his coaches and players, people don't understand that. That's why he does this. He doesn't do it for the money or for the recognition. He does it just because he loves helping kids. Players call us years later and say, "Thank you, coach, for what you've taught me." They graduate and have families and careers. That's what it's all about."

What is happening in Gopher Football is a classic Capraesque story in real life and life lessons learned unfolding.

One day they may erect a statue of him, and make a movie about his life story. What a great genuine all around good person. We are very fortunate to have him at this moment in the Gopher Football program.

He teaches winning long after the players hang up their cleats.

Behind every great man... Rebecca is not just a pretty face. She really gets it and I think it would be hard to find a better first couple of Gopher Football. Her story really captures the flavor of that aspect of the season and what was going on behind the scenes, which is pretty much the same thing they were saying publicly, just a little more detail.

I also found it interesting that she wrote this exclusive for the PP. No offense Nadine, but the strib sucks.

We, as Gopher fans, are very fortunate to have this man as our head coach. We are very fortunate as well that he has such an amazing wife! One of the best head coaches and staff in the country!!! Ski U Mah Gophers!

Very nice reward for Kill and Claeys. Also nice touch to have Rebecca Kill write the story.

Rebecca Kill could run for Governor and win. She'd be better than Jesse Ventura.

Can't blame her for writing only for the Press. The wonderful way the Strib took to attacking Kill probably presented a great way to say F-U to that pompous bunch, by writing in the P Press.
