per Marcus:

"I thought we played very hard regardless of the score against Syracuse," Pitino said. "I thought we played great the first half against Arkansas. They just outplayed us the second half. (Wednesday), we were a little lethargic, but we finished out strong. We're still learning; we're still growing."

Smith said there would have been reason to worry if the Gophers had gone 0-3 in Maui. But they were able to at least get back on track before returning home.

"I think the biggest thing is it gave us a little bit of confidence back," he said. "After losing two games, your confidence starts to leave you a little bit. After (Wednesday's) win, we got a little bit of that back."

Wooops!?!?!?

Malik Smith?

Thats what I thought, but if you read the article Smith isn't quoted before in the text.... Kind of common to reference the speaker prior to or at least have some sort of the story be about him. The Smith drop is right after a Pitino quote, who all the other quotes from the story are from and the article is a "Pitino says"....

Most likely is Smith, but given the situation PP should have taken a bit more caution and made it more obvious ya think?

Tubby is a distant fading memory, should be obvious, I think the coaching staff is learning also, they tried different things against Syracuse and Arkansas, should be interesting to see what they do against Florida State.

I took it as Malik also, but I've been wrong before. The one mistake I did make was thinking that I was wrong once. But I was wrong, I was right.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.:cool02:

I think we are going to see McNeil get more and more minutes going forward... He was one of the first one of the bench the other night. He had a very nice state line yesterday in the scrimmage. I think he is passed mav and will be the backup at PG.

It was nice to see McNeil go 2 for 4 on 3-pointers in the scrimmage too, since outside shooting has never been considered one of his strengths.

What was it or where is it available to view?

Pitino tweeted it.....

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Nice win for Gold in today's scrimmage. <a href="https://twitter.com/AndreHollins">@AndreHollins</a> showed great leadership. <a href="https://twitter.com/idaymcneil5">@idaymcneil5</a> is getting better! <a href="http://t.co/6mLg2PZFUQ">pic.twitter.com/6mLg2PZFUQ</a></p>— Richard Pitino (@MNCoachPitino) <a href="https://twitter.com/MNCoachPitino/statuses/412336231251341312">December 15, 2013</a></blockquote>

Wally and Buggs don't even play in scrimmages....

Chances Wally is here next year????

Jay Williams tweeted what he thinks is the top 5 ACC teams.

1) Syracuse
2) UNC
3) Duke
4) Pitt
5) Florida State

With the gophers playing very well with Syracuse and beating Florida State I would say that speaks volumes to the potential success we could have in the Big 10 season.

Dakich made a quote on the B1G network that he thought Minnesota was the 5th most impressive B1G team so far, big games against Michigan/Purdue at home in a couple of weeks, win them both and they are in very good shape, lose both and things could get ugly.

Thanks for posting. I like to compare EE and Mo's numbers, overall pretty equal vs each other. And King vs. Oto... King edged him in rbs, pts, & TOs.

Hoping Buggs would get more rebounds, I don't think Wally transfers, we have a great track and field program, it would be more likely that he quits hoops to focus on track, or he would just stay on the team so he could have a full ride to do track. Not 100% sure but I think do to title IX track and field gives out mostly half scholly's

If I recall, most have partial scholarships, & if I recall high-jumpers typically get a smaller amount of scholarship money... That being said he may be an exception.

Maybe next year he will get more run... when Austin's 30+ mpg free up. I think Morris will get the starts and most the minutes.

Chris Monter ‏@collegebbnews 2h Gopher signee Carlos Morris had 25 points, 9 boards & 5 assists in Chipola's 99-93 win over Eastern Florida & 76-72 win over St. Petersburg

Brad Winton ‏@JucoRecruiting 23h Chipola and St Pete CC underway. Minnesota signee Carlos Morris of Chipola looks very good early on.

I hope you're right. I have nothing against Mav, but McNeil brings so much more to the table. He's perfect for this defense and a better ball handler.

Caught Richard on the radio this evening. He was talking about they extent to which they can keep track of how well players are taking care of themselves, and he mentioned Buggs as someone whose weight went down from one weighing to the next, and how that shouldn't happen if he's following the program. I get the definite feeling that Charles is tougher to coach and to keep on the path than the other guys. If there's someone who I don't think is long for this program after the season, it would be that guy unless he gets the attitude turned around.

I usually don't like coach shows because they are just a bunch of coach speak. However coach Pitino is a good and interesting listen. Mondays 6:30 - 7:30 on ESPN1500.

That would explain his benching after his impressive play against FSU.

Thanks, I can get that on my SONOS machine....
