per Marcus:
It seems to Richard Pitino that the only press his Gophers basketball team gets is related to his more famous father, Hall of Fame and Louisville coach Rick Pitino.
He doesn't like it.
Yes, the season opener will be all about Pitino vs. Pitino, a nationally televised game against Louisville on Nov. 14. But Minnesota is returning four starters from the postseason NIT champion, and has four seniors leading an underrated and potentially strong group of newcomers.
"We need people to know about Minnesota," Pitino said. "Nobody talks about our program, unless it has something to do with me and my dad, nationally right now. I don't read a lot of stuff, but I read some stuff -- and I don't see anything.
"So does that mean we're underrated, underappreciated? I don't know. Does that bother our players? That's what I'm trying to get them to understand. Certainly, it bothers me, because I think we've got a good team."
