per Marcus:

If you're comparing the number of Minnesotans on each roster, it's no contest between North Dakota and the University of Minnesota basketball team.

The Gophers (6-2) have only junior starting forward Joey King, who is from Eagan.

UND (3-4) has six Minnesotans, including two of its top three scorers in Estan Tyler of St. Paul and Quinton Hooker of Brooklyn Park.

"It's a border school," Pitino said. "Last year, we played South Dakota State. That's a big deal to them. (Minnesota-Duluth) was a big deal to them. North Dakota, it'll be a big deal to them. We have to be ready to roll."

Grand Forks Herald: Tonight's matchup with the Gophers first since 1983

UND comes into Williams Arena with some confidence, however. North Dakota beat Drake on Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa, where sophomore guard Quinton Hooker's over-the-shoulder shot inside the lane with 11 seconds to play gave UND a 63-62 win.

UND hadn't won a road game since late in the 2011-2012 season.

"We needed a big road win," said Hooker.

The chance for UND to play at Minnesota, said coach Brian Jones, is good for the program as it gives a chance for UND alumni in the Twin Cities area to watch the game. And it also gives the six Minnesota players on the North Dakota roster a chance to play in front of family and friends.
