Pitino noticed in workouts and practices that Dorsey, a point guard from Maryland, and Murphy, a forward from San Antonio, likely can help the team immediately this season.
Dorsey was the top recruit in the class, but Murphy's emergence has been a pleasant surprise.
"Jordan Murphy we're very excited about," Pitino said Tuesday. "He's kind of got an undersized type of body, but he can guard multiple positions. Extremely excited about him. Great leadership qualities. He'll be ready to contribute right away."
"I like Nate on the court, but he can't play 40 minutes at (point guard)," Pitino said. "I don't think Kevin can play (shooting guard) because of his height. So I think they'll play together; how much, I don't know, but they'll play together. ... I do think they'll be a good combination together. Kevin really gets a lot of guys involved."
