With the Big Ten West Division title and a spot in the Big Ten title game on the line Nov. 29, the Gophers took a 17-3 lead against Wisconsin but lost Paul Bunyan's Axe 34-24.

"Wisconsin has been the one that has kept us out of there," Kill said. "We had a lot of success last year, and we've got three (rivalry) trophies, but we haven't had the Axe in a long time. I think that's been the issue because over the last two years, if we beat Wisconsin, we are where we need to be."

Not to nitpick, but we weren't in the same division as Wisconsin 2 years ago and Michigan State won our division going away

I think he changed his statement slightly, so that now he is saying we wouldn't have won the division 2 years ago by beating wisco. We would have been " where we needed to be"
