The fundraising process also has started with the university looking for lead donors who can contribute $5 million to $6 million or more and would have a portion of the facility named after them.
In the next six to nine months, the Gophers hope to finish that stage and move to the next two phases of fundraising, including the major gift phase of donations of more than $100,000 with no naming rights and the grassroots fundraising phase with donations of less than $100,000.
"But if someone comes in tomorrow with a $15-20 million gift, then we're going to put the wheels in motion to get this thing built," Crum said.
