per the Pioneer Press:
The University of Minnesota's athletics department is the target of a gender equity complaint filed through the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights, athletics director Norwood Teague said in an email sent to student-athletes.
According to several sources, the complaint is related to the U's Athletes Village project, specifically about a football "performance center" that will displace the men's and women's track and field teams.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Education said the Office of Civil Rights has "two Title IX investigations open at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. One involves sexual harassment and the other involves athletics."
In his email, Teague says the U has received a letter from the Office for Civil Rights informing the school of a complaint that "alleges discrimination in intercollegiate athletics on the basis of gender."
