The ragging players took from fellow students was intense at times. After an 8-23 record last season, doubts about the program lingered into the fall semester.
“And there’s nothing you can say,” Pitino said Tuesday.
But with 10 wins in their first 11 games, Gophers men’s basketball players are holding their heads high and enjoying each win after a season that set the program’s record for losses.
“It’s nice to get these guys finally having the feeling of good self worth, feeling confident walking through campus,” Pitino said. “Certainly we know that we’ve got a very long way to go and a very tough road ahead. But when you’re playing well and when you’re winning some games, certainly that confidence (helps) everybody.
