per Greder:
The New York Giants’ director of college scouting, Marc Ross, entered J Rodgers BBQ restaurant in Saraland, Ala., on a dinner break in 2008.
In addition to the grub, the joint’s co-owner Clyde Maye fed Ross a morsel about a certain freshman from nearby Murphy High School whom Ross should keep his eye on.
On Saturday morning, eight years after that exchange, Ross shared the tip he received with its subject, KJ Maye, in a phone conversation before the NFL draft.
“That’s a good connection,” Maye relayed to the Pioneer Press. “I didn’t know that.”
