Players in the running to help fill that void include senior Lincoln Plsek, redshirt sophomore Nate Wozniak and sophomore Brandon Lingen.

"I don't think depth is going to be an issue," said Gophers offensive coordinator Matt Limegrover. "There really hasn't been anybody where we've gone, 'Oh boy, we couldn't get a yard with him at tight end.' So that's positive, for sure."

Wozniak might be the most intriguing because of his immense size at 6-foot-10 and 271 pounds.

"You know who he is when he walks out the door," Limegrover said.

Gophers coach Jerry Kill said Wozniak, who appeared in five games last season but didn't catch a ball, has gotten stronger.

"He's bigger, stronger, bends better," Kill said. "He catches the ball better."
