per Marcus:

It seemed as if Gophers football turned back the clock a century with a one-completion, 7-yard passing performance in Saturday's 24-7 win over San Jose State.

But you have to go back only 29 years to find a game with fewer passing yards from a University of Minnesota football team.

Seven fewer.

On Oct. 19, 1985, Rickey Foggie went 0 for 8 -- that's right, no completions -- in a 22-7 win at Indiana. The Gophers won because Foggie, an athletic wishbone quarterback, led coach Lou Holtz's option offense to 346 yards rushing.

"It was just one of those days where our option attack was really working well, and we didn't need to complete a pass to win the game," Foggie, now the coach at Red Wing (Minn.) High School, said Tuesday.
