"People know we're a good team. We're just going to have to go out and prove it," Hollins, a sophomore point guard, said Tuesday. "We don't try to look at it that much and use it as cockiness. We're confident in our ability and confident in each other as a team. We don't too much look at the brackets. The pressure is already there. This could possibly be our last game. That's all the pressure we need."

"We have to play like we know we're a better team and we're one of the better teams in the country," Mbakwe said. "Now it's a good opportunity for us to go out there and show that. It's nice having some good analysts be high on you and be an upset pick. I've heard it a few times on ESPN and whatnot. But all that goes out the window when the ball goes into the air."

They were bound to be a trendy pick almost no matter what, cause let's face it, as bad as they've been at times, they've scored some really good wins. Wins that a lot of their potential opponents in this tourney would be envious to have. So they can't play on the road in the B1G. Good thing they don't need to do that anymore lol.

Just go beat UCLA so we can have it legal this time.

A couple of comments here:

1. If this team has any cockiness at all, they shouldn't. They should be thanking everybody under the sun that they made the tournament at all, much less talking about being a good team and trying to control their cockiness.

2. People don't know your good. They know you're an 11-seed that squeaked into the NCAAs and finished in seventh place in your league after talking about being "the best team" of Tubby's tenure. Hence the grumbling by Gopher fans despite making the tournament.

3. To this point, all the positive talk in the media by players and coaches over the last two months hasn't amounted to diddly squat. As such, nobody is going to magically hop on board that wasn't there throughout. Time to show it on the court rather than just talk about it in the newspaper.

This Gopher team is the very definition of one of the lower seeded teams that higher seeds hate to face in the tournament. They are very talented and had they preformed to their talent level all season would be a much higher seed but for any number of reasons they have not put it together night in and night out and therefore find themselves backing into the tournament with an 11 seed.

If this team gets hot and plays the way it is capable of playing this is the kind of field they could make some serious noise in. Of course this team hasn't shown up on a consistent basis for a while so as much as they could make noise they could also go quietly in round one.

If, and this is a major if they come out Friday and play with the fire and determination we know they are capable of playing with look out as we could be in for a fun ride.
