per Greder:

A week away from his first spring practice as Minnesota’s head football coach, Tracy Claeys said he has been impressed by former East Ridge quarterback Seth Green.

Green, who played his senior season in suburban Dallas, enrolled in January and has participated in winter workouts. He committed to Minnesota after initially declaring for Oregon.

“For his athleticism and that, he’s really stuck out,” Claeys said. “I didn’t realize he just turned 18 here a week or so ago. He’s a good-looking kid.”

How old did he expect him to be? That and someone on the staff dropped the ball if the kid isn't get something from the head coach on his birthday (card, e-mail, some sort of recognition).

Coach Claeys is still learning how to be a media guy, but I think he catches on quick.
Work in progress... but I don't doubt his football mind, nope. He has a plan.
I'm excited about Seth Green too!

Well, they still got the kid to the U without sending a birthday card to him.

Kevin Garnett was 19 when he graduate high school.

But how good does he look in practice? Is he James Gillum good?

The comment was elicited by a Pioneer Press question. The Press's audience is Saint Paul the East Side and Western Wisconsin. A player from the area is why they asked. He obliged.

Seth enrolled in January and has been taking part in workouts. According to the quote his birthday was last week meaning he was already here. Was going for humor more than anything with my comment. The comment from Claeys just seemed odd the way it was worded.

Sorry, I was being sarcastic as well. The initial thought in my head was "what would Harbaugh do for a birthday present?!?!?!?"

For a recruit, probably a birthday slumber party. For a signed player....a nice hearty handshake?

That sounds like the start of a good running joke:

"What would Harbaugh do for....?"

I can see student fans jumping all over this.. Hey, Harbaugh you want to sleep over, etc...
