The Gophers (6-2, 3-1), who play Iowa (6-2, 3-1) on Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium, are less concerned about Leidner's current health than they are about developing the sophomore's improving skills in the pocket.

"But where he's at right now and where he's going to be, I think there's a huge difference, just like a rookie going into the NFL," Minnesota coach Jerry Kill said. "You got a young man right here in our hometown, Teddy Bridgewater. They're going to bring him along, got a great offensive coordinator, but you know, it takes time. There are ups and downs and so forth, and that kid's going to be a great player, but it's going to take time. And there's a lot of room, I'm sure (Vikings coach Mike Zimmer) will say, to improve there. And we've still got a lot of room to improve with Mitch as we go."
