per Marcus:

Harnish expects to see a different Leidner this year.

“They just gave me more and more to work with in the offense, trusted me more and just let me play,” Harnish, a former Minnesota Vikings quarterback, said about Kill’s staff. “That came with overall experience and time spent in the system. They took the leash off a little bit and that was fun. You can see that’s the progression they’re doing with Mitch.”

Harnish’s sophomore to junior season numbers improved in passing yards (1,670 to 2,530), passing touchdowns (11 to 21), interceptions (six to five) and passing efficiency (137.9 to 157.8). Leidner threw for 1,798 yards and 11 touchdowns with eight interceptions last year, but he completed 21 of 31 passes for 258 yards and a touchdown in the Citrus Bowl against Missouri.

“Last year, he was given a little bit more,” Harnish said of Leidner. “This year, I’m sure they’ll really take the reigns off him and let him do his thing. He’s got all the attributes to be a phenomenal quarterback and a top tier quarterback. I’m really excited to see him play.”

Go Gophers!!

Wait till Chandler reflects on the Gopher game played last night...

I really think the Leidner conversation is irrelevant. Strev cannot throw it any better and it would be silly to waste the Frosh RS or expect anything beter from kids that have been on campus for roughly 3 months. Playing Parra would be a system change almost with him not being much of a runner. We've got Leidner for better or worse this year.

He is what he is, and he was what he was last night. He's going to struggle, mighitily, against teams that are not only bigger than us but also quicker. Luckily we are going to play 2 of those types of teams this year.
