per Marcus:
When Carlos Morris was sitting on the bench in the second half Tuesday, his Gophers teammates let him know he had eight steals against Wake Forest.
But Minnesota coach Richard Pitino didn’t know how much his junior guard was thinking about that after the 85-69 Big Ten/ACC Challenge win against the Demon Deacons.
“I wanted him to be really, really be excited about that,” Pitino said. “I don’t know if he is. I’m not saying he’s not. But he’s probably thinking about the six turnovers.”
The 6-foot-5, 175-pound Morris also had 15 points, but he assured reporters after the game that he felt pretty good about helping the team record 14 steals Tuesday.
“I’m definitely excited about it,” Morris said. “He preaches defense and I’m just trying to get after the ball.”
