New Gophers coach Tracy Claeys said added time spent each evening on recruiting has been the biggest adjustment he has made in his new job.

Claeys was the defensive coordinator before taking over for retired coach Jerry Kill on an interim basis on Oct. 28. He signed a three-year deal to become the head coach last week.

"I'm making a lot more (telephone calls) than what I did in the past because both sides of the ball," Claeys said. "I literally have to set aside an hour to 90 minutes to make those extra phone calls each evening."

The Gophers' 2016 cornerback recruit Elijah Daniels, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., relayed the rewards of Claeys' extra work on Twitter on Tuesday morning.

"(I) had a great talk (with) Coach Claeys last night; it's always a great conversation," Daniels wrote. "Glad to call him my new head coach."
