per Marcus:

Starting center Bakary Konate will miss the Gophers' two exhibition games because of a stress fracture in his foot, but he said Wednesday his goal is to be ready for the season opener Nov. 13 against Missouri-Kansas City.

Konate is progressing after injuring his left foot in practice a couple weeks ago.

"It was very tough in the beginning," he said at Gophers Media Day. "But right now I feel much better with my feet. I just have to be patient to be ready to get back and do what I want to do."

Go Gophers!!

I hope he doesn't play for at least the first two regular season games. I'm more worried about him re-fracturing the foot and being out for the season. If there is any doubt, don't play him many minutes against Temple either since we might be better off losing that game and playing the last two games in the losers bracket.

Honestly, I would consider keeping him out until Decemberish if it meant making sure he got back to 100% before easing back into game shape. You gotta be so, so careful with stress fractures. I hope they are really looking at his workout regimen and changing things up because otherwise this will be an ongoing issue as we saw with Al Nolen.

Wow - an article from Media Day about actual players. Now was that so hard?

Depends entirely on the nature of the SF. Unless its navicular or 5th metatarsal, four weeks may be enough. I am sure docs know what they are doing.
