per Marcus:

It was tough for senior tailback David Cobb to walk away from the field without getting a bit emotional.

"It kind of hits you that it's not the same at the next level anywhere you go in life," Cobb said. "You don't get surrounded by your teammates and your brothers. It's the people who have always been so good to me and always supporting me, always wanting a picture of me or want my autograph. It just means so much to me. I wanted to give it one good look and then move on."

Unlike Cobb, wide receiver Isaac Fruechte and other seniors might not have opportunities to be able to play professional football. So Thursday's game might have been the final game of their career.

"I'm kind of lost for words. You know you never really think it's over," said Fruechte, a Caledonia, Minn., native. "We did some things that we didn't do during the year that cost us. Turned over the ball, a few penalties, things that we don't normally do. It's unfortunate, but I look forward to seeing the 2015 University of Minnesota Golden Gophers."
