Who will be the Gophers’ quarterback this fall? P.J. Fleck isn’t yet sure. But he does know one thing.
“Not one of our quarterbacks have thrown a college pass, and I continue to say that because that is a fact,” Fleck said. “That’s not hiding behind something, that’s not making an excuse. That’s a fact, and that’s where we are.”
The three-horse race in spring ball seemed to end with redshirt freshman Tanner Morgan leading the pack, followed by true freshman Zack Annexstad and sophomore transfer Vic Viramontes in third. But no decisions were made, and don’t expect Fleck to pull a quick trigger on that position battle this fall.
“Some people try to make the decision too early, instead of letting the process play itself out,” Fleck said. “We have the ability, with the quarterback situation right now, to let the process play itself out, get through training camp, make a decision.”
