As long as the Yankees are involved in this, moving the game won't happen. The Yankees and NYC must be propping this game up, with it's substantial $4.4M payout.
Makes no sense to have a bowl game there outdoors in a baseball stadium. If NYC ever builds a new, indoor NFL stadium, then it will make a ton of sense.
Unless another bowl steps up that is paying $4.4M or more per year to the conference, I don't foresee them dropping it.The whole football in baseball stadiums thing has kind of run its course. Makes for a few nice visuals but the fields tend to be not as good and for the fans it isn't great because the field positioning is weird.
Not sure what future tie ins look like but would have no problem is the Big Ten was no longer affiliated with this particular bowl.
Especially with the conference needing to add 2-3 more tie ins this offseasonUnless another bowl steps up that is paying $4.4M or more per year to the conference, I don't foresee them dropping it.
(The bowl was originally conceived to host Big East teams, by the way, then in 2014 the Big Ten with Rutgers and the ACC with Syracuse took over the tie ins)
Wild guess they'll make Las Vegas Bowl permanent Big Ten v SEC every year and try to take over the previous PAC tie-ins to Alamo Bowl and whatever new bowl replaces the LA Bowl.Especially with the conference needing to add 2-3 more tie ins this offseason
It’ll be them vs new pac 12 for someWild guess they'll make Las Vegas Bowl permanent Big Ten v SEC every year and try to take over the previous PAC tie-ins to Alamo Bowl and whatever new bowl replaces the LA Bowl.
