Get the s*** in here people, its pig week.

I know we've had two tough losses in a row, and should have the Jug firmly in our grasp, but here we are at 4-5 (1-4) needing to find a way to bounce back. "What do we have to do WCG? We have so many injuries, our QB has more ducks than a wildlife preserve!" I'm glad you asked let me tell you.

Beat Iowa.

"Holy s***? That's all we have to do?"

You bet your ass it is, now get fired up and I'm going to tell you why that's a lot easier than it sounds.

1. Iowa doesn't have many good victories. No really, they don't. Besides manhandling the Nerds they have exactly ZERO convincing or impressive wins this year. I give zero f***s that they dropped 62 on North Texas, Ferentz is trash.
2. Their VAUNTED defense sucks, seriously. Mitch will have to pass a ton but even I think he could QB us to victory in this one.
3. Their SMASHMOUTH offense really sucks. This is the biggest issue with the squawks this year that has been flying under the radar because every defense they have played has been objectively s***. (For real look it up if you don't believe me, they might have played one defense that is better than 90th in the nation). We have a big d*** swinging unit that can man up their weak WRs and crash the box to stuff the run.

So with all this being said I offer a guarantee right now about the outcome in IC next week: Gophers will show up, show out, take that :pig: and dash the wet dreams of Kirk Ferentz and Squawk faithful everywhere.

It's about damn time we won a trophy game this year gentleman, and keeping Floyd in Minneapolis will answer the eternal question that defines this storied rivalry.

"Who hates Iowa?"

I'm pumped to make another trip to IC. I honestly feel we win that game. This team wants a win bad and Iowa isn't good enough to be 10-0.

I'm with you. The team that showed up against Michigan beats Iowa by 10 points. The team that showed up tonight has a 50/50 shot of winning.

I agree. I feel like we win next weekend. And even though I don't believe Iowa is a Top 10 team - it would still be a Top 10 win for us in the history books. And I think that would great for the season all things considered.

"

30 point blowout at 7-2, top 20 Northwestern, and a win in Camp Randall over 8-2 Bucky. Pitt isn't too bad at 6-3.

Kinnick will be ELECTRIC for this game. Good luck. I'm seeing Iowa in the playoffs right now. They'll be the most overrated team in the country...until they aren't.

Put the pipe and bottle down.

Wisconsin might have the best D in the country, and Iowa ran for 144 (in a game where they had basically zero passing threat). Northwestern has the 17th total D in the country and Iowa ran for 300 with their 3rd and 4th string tailbacks and both starting tackles out with injury and a true freshman playing guard. Illinois has a top 40 defense and Iowa almost had 300 rushing on them. In those two games, Iowa became the first FBS school in 20 years to have two different players run for over 200 in consecutive games. Pitt is also 26th in the country in total D.

Ferentz certainly doesn't suck, he's like 20X the coach of anyone we've seen on the Gopher sidelines in 25 years. That said, I agree with most of the rest of your post. Iowa doesn't have a lot of team speed and their QB is significantly limited with a groin injury. They are very big and physical on both sides of the ball, so the Gophers can't play smash mouth with them.

Keys to the game

Offense
-Can't be predictable-RUTM will not work against this team
-Limit turnovers-The teams that should of beat Iowa turned the ball over in the red zone against them

Defense
- Sell out on the run on early downs
- PRESSURE on 3rd down- Beathard is a sitting duck back there, if you get them in 3rd and long you force him to move off the spot. Bring 6 guys if you have to, but make him make a play on the move.

LOL, did you even watch the Indiana game? Yeah, he sure is immobile. He almost single-handedly won the game with his legs.

Exactly which teams were those?

Becky has played exactly two good teams, both their losses.

People thinking we are going to win at Iowa makes me very nervous. Our only chance is unbridled pessimism, so knock it off.

If the Gophers play Iowa and Wisconsin as tough as they played Ohio State and Michigan we will win both games. And this will personally go down as one of the best seasons in memory. Bowl eligible. Axe. Floyd. It's gonna happen!

If we beat Iowa and Wisconsin I agree, this season will be remembered as a good (almost want to say great) season. I think we have a good chance. Right now nothing would make me happier than to be the reason Iowa doesn't make the playoff.

Now we're talking

Indeed. If we can somehow screw up the hog-eyes and skunk's seasons, that would be awesome. I'd love a scenario where the hog-eyes lose to us and start a three game skid by also losing to Purdue and Nebraska. This would leave the skunks an opportunity to reach the B1G championship game only to get knocked out by us thereby allowing NW to get there thanks to us. I know, very long shot but why not make winning the pig and axe a little extra special this year.

Go Gophers!

It doesn't really help that we embarrassed them last year. Iowa has so much on the line with this game and will be looking for revenge. Still I would love nothing more then to ruin there playoff dreams this week
