Go Gophers!!

Sid in his column today that the "U" was no where near raising the nearly 200 million for facilities. Is this just Sid? I didn't hear of any reaction by Lou Nanne. If this is true is it somewhat embarrassing as this really should be a drop in the bucket for a school this size, being the only D1 school in the state, the number of alumni, etc. He did say however that all of the money is nearly raised for Siebert Field.

Go Gophers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am more concerned that you still choose to get any of your news, on anything sporting related (college or pros), from Father Time.

Really is time for Sid to "hang it up" as they say. The guy can't keep most of "his" facts straight anymore and is often all over the board. How his ghost writer keeps anything straight in "his" supposed columns is often beyond me. He is simply just embarrassing himself (intentionally or unintentionally), imo. For his own sake, the Minneapolis Tribune really should step in and make him finally go into actual retirement. It is not even comical anymore, it is just kind of sad and I kind of feel sorry for him. The last number of years he has unfortunately been putting a tarnish on decades of otherwise good work.

I say F U. LEt Sid go on and on anon until the day he dies.

I cannot listen to Sid, no it isn't my hearing. But he has trouble staying on topic, offer timely questions, or even construct a sentence. And I cannot believe what he writes, or if he is actually the author. This from the man who once offered the Daily Sports Hero. And while I have always thought he has done enough to say when he was going to leave. But this performance is embarrassing for WCCO and The Star Tribune. It could be charged they are taking advantage of a vulnerable adult.

And I don't think Sid should be in charge of taking pictures of the renovations.

What type of smart phone do you think Sid uses?

I would have pegged him for one of these.

I think that is the phone station19 uses to talk to Dr.Don. They used to use smoke signals but it didn't work very well because 95% of the time the smoke was only blowing from Moorhead to Alexandria.

There's no question Sid has slipped in recent years. (but I would rather have Sid on the radio instead of that smirking bozo Mike Max)

Still, Sid has sources and contacts - and he does have editors at the paper who presumably check his columns. I will continue to maintain that, until the U and Teague release some actual figures, I am skeptical about this fund-raising campaign. If they had met their goal, or were 75% of the way there, you can bet someone would have leaked it out. In the absence of good news, I am going to assume bad news.

In print I think usually Sid is fairly reliable. On the radio though he gets so confused that anything he says you have to take with a grain of salt.

I also am a little skeptical until I see numbers. But the fact Teague stated not long ago that it was a years timeline not year, we'll see.

The other thing is, it could be a both sides are right.

There may not be anywhere near $190MM officially speaking (Sid's point of view). But they may be much closer to that with secret backroom deals (Norwood's POV). Also, their goal may only be $5MM this year for all we know. It's all a matter of perspective.

The stated timeline for the fundraising campaign is 6-8 years. Did you expect the U to raise $200 million in a year?

If the new facility is not built and being used in 6 years, we will be playing in whatever conference the non super conference teams will be playing. Us and Indiana will be ejected from the new world college football if things are not taken care of RIGHT NOW. Its really zero time for us at this point. The Regents, the legislature, high buck athletic donors need to realize once we depart the Super conference set up, football here is dead.

Finally, a ray of sunshine. :banghead::banghead::banghead:
