I thought I'd post some of the shots I got from the Game, because I think they can tell us some things about what went wrong.

If I remember correctly, this was a third down play, and we got a holding penalty on us. In any event, Weber threw to the TE, I think, who's obviously a bit better covered than some of Weber's other options. Weber wasn't the main problem on Saturday, but I still haven't been impressed.

Their first touchdown. They got some nice push, and were able to stuff it in.

Look at the D bite on this screen play. There is nobody back defending the screen, and SD scored on this play.

Weber throws an out route towards the end of the game. It looks like they were covering the middle of the field with their backers. Our outs should have been wide open all game (and they were mostly, but lazy cuts and poor passes ensured that, even if completed, the passes wouldn't go for that many yards).

Weber, immediately before fumbling a second time. Note him beginning to lower his head without protecting the ball in the slightest.

In the fourth quarter, the stands were empty.

The Coyotes celebrate, Gophers fans hang their heads.

I keep looking at the first pic and trying to understand why the TE isn't a good option there. It looks like the TE is taking up the middle of the field, which would eliminate the far side reciever from running a post or a deep in, looks like he is still running a go route maybe? You might be able to hit the closest receiver, but in general the under coverage should be trying to take that away, since he is running a stop route, not an out, so your read should be back to the TE. Another option is you could hit the wide open in the flat and hope he breaks a tackle for the first down.

In my coaching history I always taught our QB to take the closest throw over the longest throw. Ie take the slant over the out. Take the inside seam route over the outside. If I was in the video room I don't think I would be harping on this play.

I'd forgotten how nice a day it was. I remember more of a gray/sepia tone as I stumbled out of that place.

You could be right. I don't remember the play too well. I just noticed, generally, perhaps not in this specific situation, Weber making some problematic reads as has been his wont.

Great Screen Play picture, man did you capture that, I can almost here the linebackers saying oh oh.

Great Pictures!

However, the analysis is silly. I love the "Look at Weber lower his head...without protecting the ball" bit.

That screen was so agrivating...we blew it up later when they ran it again....but no way is that the coverage to blitz everone.

Shouldn't there be at least 1 LB left to watch for the RB or TE?

Great pics. I'd love to see more on a good Gopher play...got any of those to share??

It's hard to judge who is open and who isn't after the ball is already in flight. Based on where everyone is there now the TE looks like a good option, but I'm betting you that LB was too close at the time of delivery to sneak it in there.

LOL. THIS!

So true.. I was just admiring the beauty of the Minnesota sky in these pics. And thought the same thing.. "Wait.. wasn't it cloudy and gray when we walked out of there?"

You're silly.

Weber lead his body with the ball arm, and the left arm was kept free to cushion the fall. Bad mistake. Same thing AP admitted may be causing some of his fumbles. Also noticed on more than one screen pass, including this one, we were caught in a blitz.
