Looking at purchasing 2 season tickets now that my son is old enough. There is availability in sec 212 but it is high up in 30th row. Should I be happy these are available this late...or should I try for lower seats? From what I've read the visitor side is popular. What are the advantages of this area?

Visitor side gets more sun, so it's warmer on sunny, cold days. Of course, it's really hot on warm days.

Look at these as starter seats and move in 2015. Come next spring you should be able to move to just about anywhere, just ask (and maybe get out your checkbook).

The Away side has the sun (when it is sunny). The Home side has our cheerleaders for most of the game. The Away side has more Badger/Iowa fans. The Home side has more Gopher fans. The Away side lets you look over the visiting team. The Home side lets you look over our team. Besides that, not much difference.

I prefer the lower bowl because I like to be close to the action. Up high lets you see more plays develop. Up high means you are that much closer to God. Down low means you are that much closer to the cheerleaders.

I tend to think there is not a single bad seat in TCF. My seats are in the second deck and we love the vantage point. The architects did a good job of getting the second deck closer to the action than the dome was.

I'd say go for it. As others have said you will easily be able to move in the spring

+1!

I'm in 213 row 30 and enjoy it.

The home side is also much better for enjoying the band, so if that's important for you and your son, go with the home side.

Generally, it seems like the trade off is between seat backs/bench seating. If you want seat backs without making a donation, you'll be 30 rows back in the upper deck. If you don't care, you can get up in the first 10 rows, probably. Personally, I'd shoot for a closer row in a different section in the upper deck (one without seat backs). I'm a few rows up in 245, right on the goal line of the west end zone. Great seats.

As others have said, it's like choosing between a porterhouse and a ribeye. Either way, you're getting a great meal.

Good advice from all here, at least based on my experiences.

I'd throw in the idea that if you want to get lower in the upper deck, ask the U ticket office if there are any 'obstructed view' seats available. Are there any obstructed view seats in TCF? Not really, but my 219 Row 1 season tix were considered as such by the U (at least in 2009 when the Bank opened), basically because there is a piece of steel railing that goes up an extra 8-10" from the main rail at the end of the aisle. You may find that there are similar available if you specifically ask.
And no, my printed tix do not state 'obstructed view' anywhere on them, so the are not handicapped in that way when I need to sell them.

Looks like some seats are available in 209 and a little bit closer to the 50 yard line in the same row as the ones in 212. Is one section better? My only concern is that I will have a bad angle on the big scoreboard in 209...would this be an issue? Also for parking...what is better, Washington ave ramp or 4th st ramp? Thanks everyone.

You'll be able to see the score board from either of those sections no problem. I have had no troubles finding free parking on the neighborhood streets in stadium village, or getting a spot in the river flats for $10, so I can't comment on the ramps.

I was in 212 and moved to 209 to be lower. I moved back to 212 when I added two more tickets. I prefer 212 over 209 just because I felt like I was more in the action. I enjoyed being closer to the student section and their antics more than I did the open end.

I know you're way up there, but I've never once heard "SIT DOWN" from anyone in 212!!!

I had four tickets split between those two sections a few years back. 212 was always more lively than 209 so I moved all four over there last year. Been some good characters around us the last few years to keep it light.

PS-Never given a hard time for standing in 212.

Enjoy the games!

I've been in 209 since the Bank opened and it has gotten progressively worse "sit down" wise. To the point church-like behavior seems to be the expectation. Love the field view, the scoreboard view, and the sunny side though.

Enjoy your new seats wherever they are-agree that there is not a bad seat in the house.

Go Gophers!

I'm in 208 and there are lots of small children in the section near where I sit. I'm glad people are smart about not standing too much...otherwise the kids wouldn't see a thing.

Tell the kids to stand on the seats?

First off welcome to STH status.
I agree with others on here that there isn't a bad seat in the house and to get in now and can always move next year. We have always stayed on the visitors side, but started in 216 with seat cushions(2009-2011 seasons), then moved to 214 with seat backs (2012-2013 seasons), and now are in 152 with seat cushions (2014 season).

Thanks everyone for being so helpful...

I ended up getting some seats in Sec 213 Row 6. I like the fact it's farther down on the upper deck. My only concern is vision over the railing and the tunnel which will be directly to the right of me. I won't be able to see the seats to the right and potentially could be distracted by people walking by the aisles to the tunnel. My sales rep was very helpful and I believe went above and beyond to make sure I was happy...a very good first experience.

That being said....It is right next to the $250 donor seats so it seems like a lucky opening....hopefully.

Wow, how'd you snag those? I was looking to move my two down lower in the section and nothing was available when I was called to upgrade.

Sorry...He said they just were just available today, sound like they are shuffling game packs or the like?

You lucked out. Those are going to be great seats. I haven't been to too many games but my preference would be the first few rows of the upper deck or the higher few row of the lower deck. My first game was year one vs Cal. We were in section 236 row 10. That was the game where Decker caught the td pass on the side of the end zone and got clobbered. It was right below us. Can't believe how close to the action those seats are.

Went to a game the next year with a friends tickets. Section 137 row 8. Totally sucked. Great view of the cheerleaders but can't see the other end of the field at all. Told my friend I would never use them again.

Good for you.

Go Gophers.

Boredom? Hunger?

Habit.

Can you imagine the student section when the P A announcer says, " ...the game is about to start. Everyone pick your seats. GOOOOOOOOO. GOPHERS!!!"

I am in the first year of 209 and probably last year. Church like behavior is an understatement. It's as if sometimes I feel like i'm renewing my license instead of watching a football game. Oh well, as they say, live and learn.

When sitting or standing?

I was just about to get a seat in 209...lucky I didn't as my son would be bored.
