Go Gophers!!

That would be a sweet championship matchup.

Totally agree. Yes, it would, and I can imagine it happening. My only concern is the Gophers going to the Little Ceasars Pizza Bowl. I would think that we would deserve at least the Big Ceasars Pizza Bowl.

Considering our tough schedule any bowl game would be a successful season.

Go Gophers!![/QUOTE

We will not be playing in the pizza bowl. There will be two candidates maybe three that will strive this this bowl in front of us. Iowa will be the first candidate I predict.

Agree that Iowa will not be in any bowl higher then the LCB. I personally do not think they will even be bowl eligible, but with Iowa you never know if Captain Kirk will give 100% of just keep cashing the big checks for free.

Who is Phil Steele? And why would his opinion be worth more than mine or anyone else on this board?
When we check back in December and see how wrong he is, will he offer any explanation?
He doesn't know any more than the average guy sitting at a sports bar.

Iowa ahead of us in the bowl picking order? no.... , NO WAY we go to detroilet. I know we have a tough schedule, but this has to be fuel for the fire for the boys in maroon.
And I know they're recent 'success', but sconnie with a new coach, no montee ball and lack of qb to pay for has hardly a chance to go to Orlando, Nebraska, Becky and M state ahead of
Michigan?? So many flaws in this...

I can't get mad at the prediction of our bowl. Like GiantsOfTheNorth said, I'll be happy with a Bowl. ANY Bowl.

That said, I can't imagine why they would put Sconnie ahead of scUM. But then again, I 'spose the Gator=CapitalOne=Outback bowls.

Well according to Bert, Wisconsin has surpassed Michigan as a football program, so that could be it.

You seriously don't know who Phil Steele is?

^^^ I don't either...and I bet we get a far better Bowl than that.

Phil Steele's opinion is just as important as Doc Don's. :)

Phil Steele is reputedly one of the more accurate predictors of B1G outcomes, though I have no statistics. He's been at it a long time. Picking the bowl selection is another story as it can vary regardless of records.

I'm got his preseason magazine on the back of my toilet. That 350-page monster is going to get me through a lot of mornings.

Steele must have revised his predictions after the magazine came out, because he didn't have the Gophers in a bowl in the magazine.

Tough schedule?

Coach Jerry Kill paid $800K to dodge perennial ACC juggernaut North Carolina to set-up 4 gimmes in the non-conference schedule. It would embarrassing if the MN Gophers did not make a bowl game this year.

There seem to be so many factors that go into the Bowl selection that is out of our control, I'd like the big goal for this year to just be to keep improving and get the win total up to 7 this year. If we can improve by one win per season, we will be 14-0 national champs by the early 2020s!

What a rematch that would be! Can we bring back Desi Steib and Jamal Harris for the occasion?

I was at that infamous first game of the Brewster era at the Dome. Most soul crushing sporting event I've ever attended.

I hope we make the Gator Bowl...

I expect us to make the Bdubs Bowl...

If we went to that bowl ( Detroit ) it would be a 1 day event. Detroit not exactly the garden spot of the USA.

You need more fiber in your diet.

Potential Bowl-game activities in the Detroit area:
Tour Motown
Tour Eminem's house
Tour possible burial sites for Jimmy Hoffa
Visit the Detroit Lions Hall of Fame and museum (5-minute trip)
Tour the Edsel museum......

any other ideas?

Also childhood home of Bob Seger, Kid Rock, and the Motor City Madman himself - Ted Nugent.

Fly to Scottsdale, watch the game between rounds of golf, and pretend you are in Detroit.

It wouldn't surprise me terribly if the new Vikings Stadium hosted a bowl game. It might prove a better draw than Detroit.

The reason Detroit has a bowl game has nothing to do with the city being a good draw and everything to do with a local corporation trying to do what it can to support a city on the verge of bankruptcy. Nobody wants to visit Detroit even when the weather is good. And not many people want to go to Minneapolis in the winter time either. The only bowl games worth a damn are those in warm weather cities that have a lot to offer football fans besides football (unless it is a BCS Championship Game).
