Phil Miller blog: Kill makes good first impression

Things are coming around, Kill must have impressed people with his press conference. I had noticed that posters here initially had been very negative, but became more positive. But posters at the Star Tribune were also very negative to the hire, but looking at the comments at this link, things seem to be turning around. A lot more positive comments, and what is more, the positive comments are being uprated, and the negative comments are being downrated.

You can't rip on Kill if you don't like the hire, though. I disagree with the hate towards Maturi, but hey, if you are gonna be pissed about the thing, be pissed at Maturi and at least it'll be a fair shake.

That said, I'm happy to see how people are warming up to him more and more as time goes on. He deserves, IMO, at least an 'incomplete' grade from us until we see his first few years are done with..

We didn't even get a full 3 years at NIU. :(

You guys could do a lot worse as a coach I think. There have been some complaints about his clock management and personnel decisions (though probably all fans complain about personnel decisions), and fans at NIU are pissed that it appears not only Kill will not coach in our bowl game, but our OC and DC either. If true, that's unheard of. And I think he didn't gameplan as hard for the MACC as he would have if he wasn't leaving us, which would explain why we were strangely flat in a game in which we were huge favorites. Not sure about that though. Good timing for Kill, bad timing for us.

So if you do go to a bowl game, don't necessarily expect him to be there for your kids in the game. And FYI, he didn't build the NIU program up, the previous coach did that. We had one bad year in 2007 due to a bunch of injuries, which just happened to be the last year before our previous coach retired. Just my 2 cents.
