ESPN is reporting that Phil Ford commited to Kansas today.:(

anybody have insight on this LaCosse kid other than the fact that he had a decent list of BCS offers already?

LaCosse is a 6-6 220 athlete. He seems like a TE/DE project, a few years in the weight room, and I can see him at 260/270. Brewster really seems to like these big athletes

not really worried about losing a 5.4 two star. I would rather try for a lot higher rated recruits either by stars or multiple BCS offers and if they decide to go else where we can get another kid like him later.

QB, though not a horribly sharp looking one per his film

He was offered first by Illinois.

Looks to move okay...

per EdgyTim
(Illinois Preps Rivals Affiliate): he is a three sport athlete [football, BB & BB] who is being considered by most teams as a potential TE project, including the Illini and Purdue.

He was planning on being in town this week, per an earlier interview which gives this rumor some headway.

It would be nice if this rumor pans out. I find it heartening that he has offers from two closer Big Ten programs, so if he did verbal this week, it won't be in the vein of that Zagabitch kid from Cheddarland last summer, where he is holding out for the hometown offer. Unless he bolts for NU...ugh.

post script:

Considering there is a giant gulf on the depth charts for Tight End, with nothing but walkons currently behind Lair and Euree (both of whom graduate [knock-on-wood] after '11), and that we have moved toward a what appears to be a more TE heavy traditional Big Ten offense this is welcome news if it pans, and he isn't poached by a higher profile school.

I love the block at about the 5:50 mark - it reminded me of watching Cory Sauter in high school.

Nice looking runner when he opens up. I'm curious where they project him, TE?
If so, I wonder how he looks on the line blocking. Hope his basketball skills convert over to catching the ball. Doesn't seem like the most physical player, even if he is throwing blocks from the QB position.

Actually, could we be recruiting him as an H-Back?
That would make more sense, Rohr is an excellent in line blocker, Maybe Lacosse will play off the line and in space more(hopefully Westerhaus too)

Never a bad deal to get 6'6 220 lbers who can run.

Welcome Aboard!

Damn...we could have used a good point guard. Even if he is a little old.
