Mid way through the fourth quarter I was flabbergasted at seeing a new low in Gopher football (i lived in Las Cruces NM for two football seasons. Believe me that program is HORRIBLE).

Then fifteen minutes later i didn't give a crap about the game as our coach lay on the sideline. Seriously, there is no bottom for this program. i thought it was losing to NDSU, then i thought it was losing to SD, then today i thought it losing to NMSU, then it got even worse.

Gladto hear coach Kill is stable and this is apparently a known health issue, that is the only really important thing. But as i left the stadium i couldn't help but think what a downer today was(as im sure everyone else did too). It's getting really hard to call being a fan of this program fun, and it's not even just the poor football anymore.

Where does it stop for this cursed program.

It only feels worse because it is here and now, the feelings of the past fade. South Dakota wasn't even a very good FCS team last year. Kill's been telling us that this isn't a good team this year, and not to expect too much, I guess we should have believed him. It's going to take some time.

It is a terrible thing to see someone go through what Coach Kill did today and we all hope him a speedy recovery. As far as the program being cursed, perhaps it is. But a man has got to know his limitations. Coach Kill has had serious health problems in the past including collapsing more than once during a football game. There were red flags about his physical ability to coach at this level and now he has collapsed during his Divison 1 home opening debut; what actually happened on the field itself was meaningless by comparison.
Again I wish Coach Kill a quick recovery from this latest incident but it would be foolhardy to think this couldn't or wouldn't happen again.

Its amazing that Kill is giving his best shot with what he has and we have a bunch of guys bitching. Thats perspective.

I like Kills honesty and his resume, but today was inexcusable. I hate to rip on the guy for what happened to him today (hope he has a full recovery) but we just lost to New Mexico State.

New Mexico state won 2 games last year, 3 games the year before, and 3 games the year before that.

There is no excuse to lose to New Mexico state.

I am hopeful that Kill will be a great coach for us in years to come but today just sucked.

Anybody who really knew some of our worst rosters knows that this team is much better than our truly awful years. I didn't say good, I said better. At least on paper.

It's clear that the offensive coaching staff is still kicking the tires.

I clicked on a thread with "perspective" in the title and got something a little different than I expected.

Let's hope that "perspective" is that coach Kill is ok. Let's hope that perspective on the eve of the 10th anniversary of 9/11 is that sports are a nice diversion from everyday life, but there are much much more important things in life. All my thoughts and prayers right now are directed to coach Kill and family, the families of the 9/11 victims, and our soldiers and their families.

The only positive for me today was Republic in the old Sgt. Preston's location. What a pleasant surprise.

The game was my worst experience as a fan at any level/sport. It was a funeral procession leaving today. It looked like we could possibly steal it with a late drive to tie the game and then the jumbotron went dead and the place was silent for what seemed like 45 minutes. It was like nothing I've experienced before at a game.

Exactly, akgopher. That's what i meant by perspective not helping. After the scare with Kill, i was just thinking i hoped he was ok, that the game wasnt that big a deal, etc. But even trying to think about the 'important' stuff i couldnt shake the overall depressing feelings about the state of the team. Funeral procession is an apt description of the post game mood.
