Friday I was diagnosed with a hernia and had to go in for emergency surgery. Was discharged yesterday afternoon, and got home in time for the 4th quarter (thank god United Hospital gets ESPN in their rooms). The one silver lining was that I got to watch more BT football yesterday than the rest of the year combined. My top 15 impressions (give me some slack, as I was on some kickazz narcotics):

1.We were a well coached and prepared team for the first 58 minutes. That two minute drill at the end, though, was proof positive that Brewster is a chimp. I've seen better organized monkey pooh fights at the zoo.

2.NU did everything they could to lose that game yesterday, and we wouldn't let them. We have a long tradition of letting NW come from behind to beat us. Usually on a fluke or totally lucky play. Yesterday hurt worse, because they just wanted it more in the end.

3.Brewster's team probably played well enough to save his job for a couple more weeks. Had it been 41-3 he probably would be cleaning out his office right now.

4.The NU linebacker could have run that last INT back for a pick 6. I almost wish he would have, as this would have put more heat on Brewster. In fairness to Weber, he played a pretty solid game.

5.PSU sucks, at least on offense

6.UW is overrated, although they'd probably have won if their game was in Camp Randall

7.MSU is pretty good. They do a lot to beat themselves, though. I can see why Dantonio vapor-locked.

8.Greg Jones is a monster. Our failure to retain him should have been the first clue that Brewster was overhyped as a recruiter.

9.Iowa is scary good. They could win the BT. Do they play OSU this year?

10.JoePa looks totally senile. I liked how every now and then he would go and bark at the coordinator wearing the headset. "Tell all these kids to get off my lawn!"

11.I felt sorry for the PSU contingent at Kinnick. That's a long way to drive to BFE to see your team get its azz kicked

12.That was pretty cool how the stadium crowd coodinates their attire to make the black and yellow stripes. My guess is that if you show up in the wrong color some hayseed makes you hide the corncob

13.Of the 4 other teams I watched that we still have to play, PSU is the only one we have a prayer of beating

14.I think the "shoelaces for Heisman" talk is going to dry up once SCum finally plays a team with a defense.

15.It was wierd watching so much football sans biere, but Percoset is a nice substitute.

I was able to give away my tickets to friends and coworkers, and they had a great time at the game. Good thing there isn't a home game for a few weeks. Stairs suck for me right now.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

+1

We had em until two minutes remaining. For a brief shining moment I harbored thoughts of Brewster and staff somehow overcoming this team's shortcomings and winning enough to save their butts. Maybe next weekend the gophers will play with an equal amount of spirit and a little more umph and bring the axe home.

That made me laugh:)
I was at the game, and it did look pretty cool.

I hate Iowa, especially after seeing how lucky they got last year against Northern Iowa (a D1-AA team ZOMG) and Michigan State, but I still wouldn't mind seeing someone other than Ohio State win the Big Ten. Rittenberg said that he thinks Michigan State has a shot, and seeing as Minnesota has absolute 0 chance of a title this year, I would be totally cool with Michigan State winning the Big Ten.

Anyone care to guess what the reaction to fans here would be if we tried to alternate color schemes? I am guessing it would fail miserably, as much as I don't like Iowa, we could learn a few things from their fans.
