per the Pensacola News Journal:

One year later, almost to the day of his injury, Travis returns to the starting lineup at safety and the Gophers share part of a national stage Thursday night as one of the televised games (Big Ten Network) to christen the 2016 college football season when they face Oregon State at the TCF Bank Stadium on the UMN campus.

"I had to just stay humble and be patient and just wait until this season came around. It finally did," Travis said. "One year is a long time.

"But I can't wait to put on the pads, the jersey and go at it again. It's a pretty big stage. And it's a under the lights,Thursday night, too, so that's like playing high school again."

Months of rehab and re-strengthening has led Travis back to this point.

"There was no question he would get back," said Minnesota defensive coordinator Jay Sawvel. "He's just a great worker. There was never an issue of whether he'll get back to where he was. He'll continue to improve. He will always continue to improve and that's why he'll always have value going forward (potential pro football), because he loves to play football.

"That was the biggest thing that hurt him, more so than the injury last year, is that he just loves to play football. And so I think the mental hurt of being out was a lot more than the physical hurt of being out."
