I hope they beat MSU or Purdue to avoid the #11 seed. I don't want to play them. Seriously, I think the Nitts would be favored over the Gophers on a neutral court.

I don't want to play them either. But it's a huge stretch to say they'd be favored. I think we're all a bit down about how badly we played the other night. Let's remember how well we played the 4 games before that. PSU is far better then Indiana or Iowa, no doubt. But they would not be favored against us on a neutral floor. I'd be willing to bet on it.

Can't hide

The Gophers can't hide anymore. I don't care who they play in game 1. If they don't win 4 in a row they are NIT.

If they can't beat Penn State what possible chance is there they can beat the next three teams?

There is zero reason to believe this group can win 4 games in the BTT.

Just MHO. It does not make me happy to say this.

:(

Yes, the chances are slim & none that the Gophers can rip off 4 in a row in Indy. All that said, I'd still rather play IU or Iowa the first day. The goal the 1st day is to get to the 2nd day. I like our chances of playing on Day 2 better if it's the Hoosiers or Hawkeyes across from us on Day 1.

You are probably correct, though I think any of those teams can beat our lads at this point.

So long as they don't have to play Michigan, they can beat the Top 5 Big 10 teams.

Just as long as the opponent misses a bunch of wide-open 3s, the Gophers can beat anyone. I love how people praised the Gopher zone defense in wins aganst Wisconsin and Indiana (they would have won that game no matter what defense they played), and even in the close loss to Purdue.

It wasn't great defense. The other team missed a whole bunch of wide-open 3s. Michigan hit the 3s. Tubby switched to man. That of course didn't work (which is why they were in the zone in the first place).

When B10 teams miss from the outside, the Gophers win. If they even hit 30% = its going to be a loss for the Gophers.

Sounds overly simple but maybe more accurate than many people want to believe. The Gophers are not athletic enough (especially without AN) to play solid man to man defense.

Cobbs and Williams are quick enough to play man, Westbrook when he wants to be. Carter and Johnson aren't bad. Other than that it is pretty tough.

Penn State has definitely looked a lot more fearsome over the last few weeks, but I think we'll handle them on a neutral court. Of course, if we come out like we did against Michigan it won't matter.

Contain Babb and Battle on the perimeter = win. This is one of those games where not having Nolen really hurts.

Penn State is a much more dangerous team than people give them credit for. Look at how tough they played Purdue, Ohio State, and Michigan State over the past few weeks, including shelling NU by 20...they're playing some good ball at the moment...

No, they can't. Illinois or Purdue, maybe, but not MSU, OSU, or Wisconsin.
Didn't you just watch their game against MSU yesterday? Penn State was up 2 with 80 secs left AT the Breslin Center?! They surely could have beat them.
